Description
Hail for help on Marine VHF Channel 16? *** Not your best option since the IMO’s changes February 2005! ***
Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS) started over the concern for loss of life at sea in 1912 when the Titanic sank. Since 1912 there has been a significant effort to enhance the safety of life at sea. Unfortunately, many cruisers still think voice radio or satellite phone communications is all they need when there is potentially help just over the horizon. Some Cruisers believe channel 16 VHF or 2182.0 KHz SSB will get all the help they need. This book is a made simple for cruisers approach to making sure my Cruising friends all come home by utilizing the vast GMDSS system properly.
